Life is a Rollercoaster

Life has been so busy lately. I thought that it would feel so much more manageable since I don't have soccer on my plate anymore, but I guess Emersyn kinda took its place. I don't say that in a bad way at all. She is such an amazing blessing!!! Anyway I say that to say that we have been so busy lately. Emersyn continues to grow like crazy and do new things all the time. She turned 8 months old on April 26th! I look back on the last 8 months and it has been amazing how so much has changed.

Emersyn at 8 months is:
  • Eating some table food and can pick puffs up and feed herself.
  • Still eating one to two times at night (any advice on how to get her to sleep ALL through the night would be great. We have tried all the tricks, putting her to bed later, making sure she is taking 6-8 ounces of milk before bed, etc.)
  • Saying 2 audible words, clap (she will clap her hands and say clap) and duck.
  • Crawls fast.
  • Pulls up on everything and cruises.
  • Stands without holding on to things.
  • "Talks" all the time.
  • Still does not care for the carseat, but puts up with it sometimes.
  • Usually takes a 2 hour morning nap and a short one in the late afternoon.
  • Loves books and will sit and listen to you read them.
  • Loves to play and explore.
  • Loves to be put down to explore, but still loves to be held.
  • Doesn't really meet a stranger. She pretty much will go to whoever.
  • Understands the word "no". Most times if you say no, she will look at you and stop what she is doing.
We are really enjoying her at this stage and are so excited at every new thing she learns to do!

More like mommy

So it has been so fun to watch Emersyn change and grow. It's amazing how fast it happens. I know it happens the way it does for a reason. One of which God knew if Emersyn didn't grow out of her 24 hour crying stage, I might fall to pieces. She has grown up so much and loves to explore EVERYTHING. She is not really afraid of anything and let me tell you she adores her daddy! While Jonathan was away during spring break we were able to talk via skype and some time passed before we could skype and when we finally did and Emersyn heard Jonathan's voice and saw him she just grinned ear to ear! She loves to spend time playing with him too! They both delight in one another and it is such a gift to experience that as a mother.

Speaking of changes, I have started to notice Emersyn beginning to resemble me a bit more than she did when she was first born. Ultimately I think she is a perfect blend of Jonathan and I, but here are some pictures of me when I was a baby and I can really see a resemblance in the eyes and eyebrows!

Emersyn's First Word

I have to say there was a time when I would hear people saying their child had starting hitting milestones like walking, crawling and talking super early. For example saying their child had starting walking at 8 months. Most times the thought that they were crazy and didnt know what they were talking about ran through my mind and then I had Emersyn Kate who has done everything on the fast track a bit like her mom and her dad! Anyway this week she had started saying clack clack and I was not sure if she was trying to say clap or quack, but I am pretty sure she is saying clap when she puts her hands together and claps and says clack clack!!!

Plum Organics

Things have been so crazy for the month of March. I don't think we could have had another thing thrown on top of us at school, but as I always try and look at the positive at least all is said and done with and none of it is drug out! Now that we are on spring break we have a little down time and I will try to catch up a little on blogging. Now that Emersyn has really started eating well we have tried a couple different types of organic baby foods. We originally started with Gerber organic fruits and veggies. However, Gerber seems to be VERY limited in their selection. So the other day I had picked up some Plum Organics Super Puffs. Emersyn really enjoys them and so we will stick with those as our Puffs of choice. Then we stopped back by Babies R Us and looked at what they offer for baby foods and I was amazed at the variety they offer. Plum Organics baby food is packaged in a pouch and has a top that screws off. You can attach a spoon made to use with the pouch that squeezes the food right onto the spoon, or you can squeeze the desired amount into a bowl and store the pouch for later. I love the pouch because they travel extremely well and there is no worry of spillage. The attachable spoon is super convenient and easy too! What else I LOVE about Plum Organics is the combinations of foods and variety offered: Broccoli and apple, prunes (could never find organic prunes in Gerber), Apple and carrots, Pumpkin and banana, Blueberry and pear and purple carrot, sweet potato corn and apple, spinach peas and pears, Pear and mango, Peach apricot and banana. These combos are all in their second foods. The foods I have highlighted are things I have looked for in Gerber and have not found. I get a little particular about what I feed Emersyn because I am such an aweful eater myself. I'm really trying hard to instill a love for nutritious, non processed foods in her. Of course she will get to enjoy the tastey things, but I want her to really like the healthy things so that she has the option of choosing healthy. I also have the option, but at 29, being a picky eater is a very hard habit to break. So incase you were wondering Plum Organics did not pay for this post ;) I have just fallen in love and will probably not feed Emersyn anything but (I am turning into a food snob for a good reason). Of course she is trying some table food like Mrs. Susan's famous green beans! She LOVES them!!!
